Through my daughter's eyes

Through my daughter's eyes

Hi my name is Ryleigh & I do not go to school.

I am homeschooled which to me - means that I get to choose what I want to do each day.

I start my day when I first get up in the morning & I check on Peanut Butter & Xena.

My baby ducks!

They live inside or well they did. They just recently moved outside with our grown ducks.

I see if they need food + water.

After I do that - I go running outside to see the chickens.

When I’m out there I sing them a sweet song because I love them so much.

Then I check on the grown up ducks. They have a seperate pen near the chickens. Their names are Chocolate Chip, Cookie & Shadow. I have learned that they use their feet to swim really well. Also when mama duck hatches her eggs she quacks a lot!

QUACK QUACK QUACK

When I go back inside… I get dressed, make my bed, & tidy my room a bit.

Then I make breakfast for myself & sometimes for my sister & mom. My sisters name is Quinn & she is five years old. My mom’s name is Krystal.

We usually head outside after this. We have a climbing tree, pool, & a garden we can grab a snack from.

My mom built a climbing tree out of scrap wood. She cut pieces and nailed them to the trunk so that we could climb up and hang on the branches. One time I got stuck up there for a half an hour. I was screaming and crying I was so scared. I told myself that I was never going to get down unless - I just do it. So I did. I was very proud of myself & also very hungry for dinner.

One thing I am learning to do is read. I have learned how to read by sounding words out. On messenger with my friends I have to do that to send them a message. So that helps a lot. I also have started to read easy books to my sister & mom. My mom has me grab a harder book as well so I can learn new words.

What I love to do is make my friends gifts. That makes me feel happy. One time for Christmas, Melissa - my friends mom brought a basket of paper with each of our names on it. Each of us picked one with our eyes closed and we had to make that person a Christmas present.

I pulled Rhuby. I made her a lot of things but I didn’t think they were going to work. So when I was going to bed I was looking at pictures on my wall & then I had an idea!

A REALLY REALLY REALLY good idea!

To make Rhuby some pictures to hang on her wall.

And that was the best idea ever! I gave it to her and I think she really liked it.

I love my friends so much.

They teach me a lot. My friend Keegan taught me how to swim & whistle. Actually Keegan has taught me a lot more than that & I am very grateful for him & that he is my friend.

I love learning because everything + everyone is my school.

THE END.

This was written by my 8 year old daughter who has been homeschooled since birth. We were inspired when we read a story about a girl who unschools and tells us about her day! I just love seeing her day & life from her eyes.

Thanks for reading!

xoxo
